Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use and protect your information when you use the Categorico app. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy.

Definitions

• App - the Categorico mobile app.
• User - anyone who downloads, installs or uses the app.
• Personal information - any information that can identify a user or be linked to them.
• Device - a phone, tablet or any other device used to access the app.

Information we collect

Collected automatically

• Device identifier - on first install, an account is created automatically from a unique device identifier (Android ID on Android, identifierForVendor on iOS). This identifier persists across reinstalls.
• Device type and operating system - for compatibility and to improve the service.

Provided by the user

• Display name - chosen by the user on sign-up. The default is "New Player".
• Avatar - a character chosen from a preset set.

Game data (generated automatically)

• Game statistics: wins, losses, experience points (XP), high scores and streaks.
• In-game economy: coins and energy.
• In-app purchase history.
• Daily ad-view counts (to enforce a daily limit).
• Daily missions and cosmetic items purchased (avatars, colors, emotes).

Information we do not collect

The app does not collect the following:

• Email address, phone number or real name.
• Geographic location.
• Contacts from your device.
• Photos or camera access.
• Biometric data.

In-game answers

Answers typed during a game are sent in real time to your opponent (in multiplayer) for scoring, but are not stored on our servers after the round ends. Only the score results are saved.

How we use information

• To provide, maintain and improve the game.
• To enable matchmaking against other players.
• To track progress, scores and high scores.
• To process in-app purchases.
• To show rewarded ads.
• To enforce daily limits on ad views.
• To allow linking a games service (Game Center / Google Play Games) for account recovery.

Sharing with third parties

• Google AdMob - serving rewarded ads. On iOS, with the user's consent (ATT), an advertising identifier (IDFA) is collected for personalized ads. Without consent, non-personalized ads are shown without using the IDFA. The AdMob SDK operates under Google's privacy policy.
• RevenueCat - processing in-app purchases. Receives a user identifier, transaction details and purchased products.
• Google Play Games / Apple Game Center - optional account linking for recovery. The platform player identifier is sent to the server to link the account.
• Hosting provider - user data is stored on secure servers.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

Data security

• All communication is encrypted with HTTPS and WSS (secure WebSocket).
• User authentication uses JWT tokens with a 30-day validity.
• The device identifier and auth token are stored locally in encrypted secure storage on the device.
• Local storage is minimal: only an auth token and a device identifier.

Your rights

You may:

• Request access to your personal information.
• Request deletion of your account and all related data - you can reach us through the app.
• Stop using the service at any time.

Children's privacy

The service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we learn that such information has been collected, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

Device permissions

The app requires only the following permissions:

• Internet - to connect to the game servers.
• Vibration - haptic feedback in the game.
• Billing (Android) - in-app purchases via Google Play.
• Ad tracking (iOS) - a request to use the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads. You can decline and still see (non-personalized) ads. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy then Tracking.

The app does not require access to the camera, microphone, contacts or location.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will announce material changes in the app and update the last-updated date at the top of this page.
